WWE Survivor Series 2013 Predictions

AIRING LIVE: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24TH FROM TD GARDEN IN BOSTON, MA.

It’s time to get your WWE PPV on this upcoming Sunday! So, I’ve got Survivor Series covered with previews of each match on the card and I’ve offered up my predictions for the winners of each match. I’ve also tagged in AiPT’s co-editor Patrick Ross to serve up his own match predictions. Now, let’s get ready to rumble!

Survivor Series Kickoff Match: Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz

Josh: WWE always throws on a kickoff match that’s hastily added to the PPV and does nothing for the performers or audience. Kofi and Miz, it’s your turn. The buildup to this match was initiated on Raw and had Miz abandon Kofi during their tag match, which turned Miz back into a heel. Based on the fact that the Miz was WWE champion two years ago, I don’t see him losing this match because he’s perceived as being more valuable to the company than Kofi. I understand that Bret Hart, Mick Foley, and Booker T will be ringside panelists for this match so that should be interesting, at least.

Patrick: I can’t see Miz losing here, fresh off a much-needed heel turn. The Miz is a great heel and an awful face, so I’m excited to see what he can do now that he’s once again allowed to let his smarmy, obnoxious real self come through on television.

Josh’s Winner Prediction: The Miz

Patrick’s Winner Prediction: The Miz

Intercontinental Championship: Big E Langston (c) vs. Curtis Axel

Josh: I can’t understand why Big E Langston’s IC title win wasn’t saved for this PPV match instead of being wasted on a Raw episode. But, now that it’s happened, I guess the point of this match is for Big E to prove his championship prowess and it’s a chance for Axel to win his title back. I can’t really tell where WWE wants to go with this. All I know for sure is I like Big E as IC champion and hope he keeps it.

Patrick: I like Big E a lot as well, and it seems that WWE brass feels the same way. Here’s hoping this is the beginning of a long push for E. One request, though: Can he please bring his NXT “I need five” gimmick to the main roster?

Josh’s Winner Prediction: Big E Langston

Patrick’s Winner Prediction: Big E Langston

Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Rey Mysterio, & The Usos vs. The Real Americans & The Shield

Josh: I’m excited for this match because it’s one of the only traditional Survivor Series matches on the card and you can’t beat tradition. This match features four of the best current tag team stables in WWE as well as the returning talents of Rey Mysterio. I see nothing but crazy highspots and out-of-control brawls with this one. I like both teams so it’s hard to pick a winner for the match, but when it comes down to it, everyone likes a babyface win. And out of this crew of babyfaces, WWE will probably want to put over Mysterio strong by making him the last survivor. I would prefer Goldust but that would never happen.

Patrick: You’re probably right, although if they want to push the Real Americans into serious contenders for the Tag Team Championships, it would be wise to let one of them pick up the victory here (probably Cesaro, as he’s getting more and more over each week). Ya know what, yeah, I’m going with Cesaro. Give him the pin over Mysterio to get him some real heat.

Josh’s Winner Prediction: Rey Mysterio

Patrick’s Winner Prediction: Antonio Cesaro

Natalya, The Bella Twins, The Funkadactyls, Eva Marie, & JoJo vs. AJ Lee, Tamina Snuka, Rosa Mendes, Alicia Fox, Kaitlyn, Aksana, & Summer Rae

Josh: I was blown away when WWE announced a Survivor Series traditional match for the WWE Divas. I thought this was great news and I love how they’ve set up a feud between the Total Divas reality show girls and the “real” WWE Divas. I think they’ve got a great lineup of women wrestlers in this match and, as long as it’s given enough time, I think it will be great. As much as I like the Total Divas crew, I like AJ Lee even better and hope she Black Widows her way to becoming the last survivor.

Patrick: AJ is the best Diva to come around in a long, long time, but you can’t argue the drawing power of Total Divas, and it seems that WWE wants these ladies on our televisions as much as possible. As much as I would like AJ to make someone tap out to the Black Widow, I’m predicting a Total Divas rollup pin, most likely by one of the better talents, Brie Bella.

Josh’s Winner Prediction: AJ Lee

Patrick’s Winner Prediction: Brie Bella

CM Punk & Daniel Bryan vs. Erick Rowan & Luke Harper

Josh: I’m gonna be subjective and predict this as the match of the night. You can’t go wrong when you team up The Best with The Beard and put them up against The Wyatt Family. I predict we’re going to see a wild match that will showcase Rowan & Harper in a way we haven’t seen yet. I feel like there’s not going to be a finish to the match and instead someone’s going to interfere at the end or a disqualification will result from a Wyatt beatdown. Nothing I’ve heard has lead me to this prediction; it’s just a gut feeling.

Patrick: This match will be awesome. It’s one of the few reasons to buy the otherwise lackluster PPV tonight. I agree we’ll probably get some kind of a smoz finish; Neither team can really afford to lose cleanly at this point. Punk and Bryan win via DQ.

Josh’s Winner Prediction: CM Punk & Daniel Bryan by DQ

Patrick’s Winner Prediction: CM Punk & Daniel Bryan by DQ

World Heavyweight Champinoship: John Cena (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio

Josh: I still don’t understand why John Cena, after losing his WWE title, came back from surgical recovery only to pursue the World Heavyweight title. It made no storyline sense that Cena, a man who lives only to be at the top of his sport, would be interested in a secondary belt. But, there he is as the World Heavyweight champ and here he is in a rematch with Alberto Del Rio who would love nothing more than to win back the title. I think this will be a solid match but a typical match. And, of course, Cena will win.

Patrick: I am not against him going for the WHC, as it actually does immediately bring some prestige back to the Big Gold Belt that has been suffering hard from the dissolution of the Brand Extension. We all know Cena is going to win this match (and probably get booed out of his hometown for it), but my question is: where does Cena go from here? I’m excited to see some new matchups for Cena now that he’s carrying the blue brand’s banner.

Josh’s Winner Prediction: John “Superman” Cena

Patrick’s Winner Prediction: John Cena

WWE Championship: Randy Orton (c) vs. Big Show

Josh: The probable main event of the show will be for the WWE title and I think this will be a good match. It’s certainly had the best pre-match build-up out of any of the other matches. I think that Show and Orton will elevate each other and deliver a solidly entertaining match. I’m sure that Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and Kane will be involved throughout the match and I’m sure something controversial will happen at the end of the match. I don’t see Big Show picking up the victory this time around. But, it’s anybody’s game, I guess.

Patrick: As a Daniel Bryan fan I am resentful that Show got shoehorned into Bryan’s storyline with the Authority and is getting this opportunity. I appreciate what Show’s done over the years, but I never get excited to see a Big Show match, and tonight will be no different. There’s always the possibility of some massive swerve here, as they are seemingly building some tension between Orton and the Authority, but given that it’s WWE, I think we’ll see the more obvious outcome: Randy Orton winning with outside help.

Josh’s Winner Prediction: Randy Orton by DQ

Patrick’s Winner Prediction: Randy Orton
