It’s sad, but Hanna Barbera is only enjoyed via comics these days. That hasn’t stopped DC from offering up the classic characters in a new story complete with cooky storytelling that’s good for all ages. We check out issue #6–is it good?
Future Quest #6 (DC Comics)
So what’s it about? The DC summary reads:
Team Quest is dealt a serious blow at the hands of F.E.A.R. just as Omnikron starts rebuilding itself on Earth—out of anything living that comes too close! Inter-Nation’s Deva Sumadi takes charge and splits the group up to go recruit more forces to take on the alien supercreature. It’s time to go on tour with the Impossibles and meet the biggest fighting force in the world, Frankenstein, Jr.!
Why does this book matter?
Jeff Parker introduced The Impossibles last month and it was the best part of the issue. That story wraps up here, but also get mega action in the main story. If you like your comics with a fun adventure feel, this is an easy buy.

The Impossibles backup, drawn by Jeremy Lawson, fleshes out the character’s origin and offers up plenty of superhero action too. The best part is how Parker gets the characters to work with the writers of the TV show they’re usually on. It’s a clever bit that’s fun.
The main story is all action with dinosaurs, Birdman, and the kids getting plenty to run away from and plot against. It’s quite chaotic, but the plot threads are easy enough to follow. Space Ghost’s inclusion is quite a lot of fun as he takes on a tentacled demonic-like monster. Evan Shaner and Ron Randall draw this section of the book and the keep the chaos clean and easy to follow.
It can’t be perfect can it?
Ultimately the main story continues to feel too chaotic and somewhat pointless, as every issue seems to be the same sort of running around and avoiding danger. The plot is moving so slowly it’s hard to care about what they’re even doing anymore. It’s fun to see the characters team up and F.E.A.R. is always good for some wickedly over the top villainy, but wrap it up already!

Is It Good?
Overall this is a good experience with the backup allowing the main story to skip a beat and still allow the reader to find some joy in the entire issue. There’s lots of action, more origin story information, and Space Ghost steals the show with an exciting scene.
