All-New X-Men #15 Review

Halloween is over, but clearly no one told the Goblin Queen, who continues to torment Miami and the All-New X-Men with her legion of demons. And among all the chaos – a shocking revelation from Beast!

No, I’m not going to reveal it up top here – you need to read the review.

All-New X-Men #15 Review

After several issues spent spotlighting individual members of the All-New X-Men, writer Dennis Hopeless and artist Mark Bagley bring the band back together. And really, it’s about time! What makes this series so fun to read is seeing the young mutants interact with one another.

There are some standout moments amid the chaos, including Wolverine’s brutal confrontation with a one-eyed monster and Angel’s affection for violent, little goblins.

While I prefer my X-villains to be more thought-provoking, action-loving comic readers should enjoy seeing mutants use their powers against demons. This book is a nice appetizer for those who can’t wait for Monsters Unleashed.

A monstrous amount of credit must go toward Bagley, who delivers some of his most detailed pencils yet. Bagley’s been in the game a long time, and occasionally can deliver art that looks a little rushed, but here he reminds us why he has a reputation for being one of the best in the biz.

Okay, now back to Beast’s big reveal, which I’ll get into after the image below. What I’m trying to say is, SPOILERS!

Beast tells Cyclops he has returned to the original X-Men’s timeline. Remember how this volume of All-New X-Men, and the one before it, exists because the X-Men can’t return home? Well, turns out Beast found a way to return home, and ended up coming back to the present. Of course, a demon cuts this conversation short – but is this the beginning of the end for these characters?

I’ll be honest, I kind of hope so. I love the original X-Men, but the minute it was announced they would travel to the present, I assumed this couldn’t go on forever. But then, good sales happened, I’m going to assume. I’m really not a fan of the multiple versions of characters running around the Marvel Universe. Let’s use talent like Hopeless and Bagley to make adult Beast and Iceman shine.

However, with young Cyclops now a member of The Champions, I assume he and his fellow young mutants aren’t going anywhere any time soon. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the post-Inhumans Vs. X-Men world has in store for us.
