Unboxing/Review: Geek Fuel Mystery Box

I don’t subscribe to much. Really, aside from Netflix and GQ Magazine, nothing is being delivered to my doorstep on a regular basis. But while I’ve been watching films and reading the latest style tips, something happened. The mystery box industry exploded. Good news for those who embrace the geekier side of life, as many of these mystery box subscription services cater to this demographic.

I had heard about Geek Fuel before (Stan Lee himself endorses the service on its home page), so I reached out to the company and it was nice enough to send a box my way for reviewing purposes. For those who are unaware, your average Geek Fuel mystery box comes packed with an assortment of items, from collectibles and downloadable video games, to comic books and household goods. Every month is different, but what remains the same is that you’re getting at least $50 worth of stuff.

Fortunately, you’re not paying $50 per box. You get to choose your plan, of which there are four options: Monthly, 3-Month, 6-Month or 1-Year. The plans range from $14.90 per month to $18.90 per month, all plus $6 shipping and handling.

So is it worth it? Well, to find out what I thought of the mystery box I received, you’ll have to watch the unboxing review below, co-starring AiPT! Media and Content Manager David Brooke.

So once again, this particular mystery box included:

  • Geek Fuel Magazine
  • Hidden Staircase Floor Mat (Geek Fuel Exclusive)
  • South Park: The Fractured But Whole T-Shirt (Geek Fuel Exclusive)
  • Deadpool Domes Collectible Mini
  • The Dwarf Run Downloadable Steam Game (Geek Fuel Exclusive)
  • Epic Enamels Turtles Edition (Geek Fuel Exclusive)

Unboxing/Review: Geek Fuel Mystery BoxThe final verdict? While I’m probably not Geek Fuel’s ideal customer, I can appreciate what this mystery box could mean to others. Everyone likes to open presents, and this particular unboxing was a lot of fun for David and I. So if you’re curious, it may be best to start with the monthly plan, which you can pause or cancel anytime.

And thanks again to Geek Fuel for letting us take a peek inside one of its mystery boxes!

Unboxing/Review: Geek Fuel Mystery Box
Geek Fuel Myster Box
A fun unboxing experience that'd be of the most value to fans of geeky knickknacks.
Presents are always fun - even if you buy them for yourself
The attention to nostalgic detail on the Turtles item is great
If you're a gamer, getting a new game is an added treat
I wouldn't say any of the items are must-haves
I can see how these mystery boxes can be hit or miss on a monthly basis
