After fighting the Ninth Circle across the nation — and teaming up with DC heroes — Oliver Queen has made it back to Star City and it’s not looking good. The rich have taken over and Green Arrow is considered an SJW! Though the Ninth Circle took a major blow it appears Oliver is in for a new test entirely from the evil organization.
So what’s it about?
The official summary reads:
“WORK RELEASE!” Being a member of an intergalactic police force and the Justice League isn’t easy, but Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz face their most dire threats when they return to Earth and are forced to…get jobs?!
Why does this matter?
Benjamin Percy has written quite an epic in regards to the Ninth Circle, which has not only changed Seattle to Star City, but also rocked Oliver’s understanding of his parents. This issue and the new story arc titled “Homecoming” aims to rock his world even more.
Fine, you have my attention. What’s good about it?
Damn dirty SJW.
Can we just give Jamal Campbell art duties on every book? The guy can draw one hell of a dynamic page. Take for instance an intense moment of sexual desire and love between Black Canary and Oliver. As a table crashes and glass shatters the use of blur is pretty awesome, but also the placement of the son to create a halo effect on Black Canary gives the page a juxtaposition that’s uncanny. Layouts vary throughout the book, from nine panel pages to interesting inset panels and double page layouts. The book looks gorgeous all the way through. Pick this up just to ogle the pages.
This issue is a good jumping on point partly because it resets Oliver’s place at Star City. He’s still due to attend court, but things are looking up for him in more ways than one. Plus, his relationship with Black Canary continues to go in a positive direction and even Emi has a strong place in his life. The Ninth Circle may have been defeated greatly, but the card they pull in this issue is a big surprise and it’ll make you want to keep reading just to find out if we’re seeing is true. This is mostly a plot thickening sort of story as it sets up new plots and complications. Complications you’ll wanna continue to read.
Sell it all off. Who needs parks anyway?
It can’t be perfect can it?

Aside from a little action in Japan and an opening scene this issue lacks action overall. With its focus on plot development and new twists you’ll stay interested, but I did find myself rather bored with this ongoing murder trial on the way. It always seemed like an unnecessary hiccup and it drags things down a bit here.
Is It Good?
I’m totally on board for “Homecoming” as Percy aims to rejigger Oliver’s understanding of his family and Jamal Campbell continues to dazzle with the art.
