First up: LOOT CRATE! Are you a nerd? Do you like surprises? Yes? Well, great news! Thanks to the folks over at Loot Crate you can receive a box in the mail once a month with a mix of fun nerdy stuff inside. We’ve listed a lot of different products below and Loot Crate will let you get an assortment of most of them each month. They even have themed boxes!
Star Wars: Battlefront II
And related prequel novel, Battlefront II: Inferno Squad. This newest Star Wars game is only the second console game since the purchase by Disney and features the first ever single player campaign mode. So despite the controversy around the game (of which the company has scaled back on tremendously) I think this would be an awesome purchase. The novel is a great introduction to the main characters as well, giving you a nice backstory on them.
SNES Classic Mini
A significant step up from last year’s NES mini, every game on this thing is an ace. Add to it the never-before-released Star Fox 2, and you’ve got a dream machine for the throwback gamer.
If you are going to get someone the best game of 2017, get them this edition. It’s hard to find, but it is worth it. Along with the game, you get the artbook, a Morgana plush, a bag, a case, and the incredible soundtrack.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
It’s the near perfect game. Truly. I’ve been playing for over 130 hours, and I still have huge chunks of the game world to explore. There’s 900+ Korok seeds alone to find, so if you’re a completist like me, this is a game that can take a seriously long time.
Funko Chrome Batmobile
Look, I can’t explain why, but I need this thing on my shelf. I’m not saying I am going to play with it, but this thing is definitely coming out of the package.
Square Enix Marvel Universe: Variant Play Arts Kai Thor Action Figure
There’s an insane level of detail on this guy, so if you’re a resurgent Thor fan after seeing Ragnarok, this is the figure for you.
Marvel Legends Series: The Defenders 4 Pack
This is going to be a huge hit for people when they unwrap this because the box is so damn gorgeous and well made. Just look at our video unboxing to see. Imagine tearing away the paper to see the awesome cover and then opening the gate to see the figures displayed. Oh, and it’s a great buy for those who are big fans of the Netflix series.
Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MP-36 Megatron
Die-hard Transformers fans are no doubt aware of the Japanese Masterpiece line, which showcases cartoon-accurate depictions of Generation 1 favorites like Optimus Prime and Starscream. Perhaps the best of the bunch–Megatron–is available now! There has never been a Megatron this amazing. Complete with multiple accessories and three different faceplates, you can create your ideal Megatron to rule over all your other collectibles. It’s over $200, though, so see if someone who really loves you wants to gift it to you this holiday season.
Voltron Red, Yellow, Blue, Green and Black Lion Assortment Figures Set of 5
I’m a Voltron addict. The Netflix show has been steadily kicking ass since it first released, and my wife, son, and I are totally hooked. It’s a great show! Drama, comedy, the kid from Adventure Time – it’s got everything.
So when my son asked Santa for Voltron for Christmas, I ran out and grabbed this thing before they were all sold out and he was left crying and hating the old fat elf on Christmas morning. This is a huge toy, with tons of crazy gadgets and reminds me of my old diecast metal ’80s Voltron that I loved. I might be more excited to play with this than he is.
Imagine having a true to life sized version of this on display? Typically baby Groot comes in super small sizes, but not so here. Plus it’s detailed and gorgeous. You can pick up this cute little hero here.
There are no visible seams on this thing. You can move it like any other action figure, but her skin actually looks real! If you are serious about Wonder Woman you’ll add this to your collection.
It may be pricey, but this thing looks just like Ben Affleck. Buy it to tell your friends he made a face cast just for you.
If you dig Batman Beyond and have a hankering for something with incredible detail and realistic armor, look no further. Sure, it’s not exactly like the cartoon design, but it’s a cool interpretation and will look great in any collector’s home. You can find this badass future Batman here.
A Die Hard Christmas: The Illustrated Holiday Classic
I’ve got a young nephew whose mother won’t let watch the greatest Christmas movie of all time because of all the harsh language….and the violence…and the drug use…and the, you know what? Maybe my sister has a point. Still, this may be my best avenue to introduce little man to the story of John McClane before he’s old enough to watch the TV-14 version on AMC.
Death Star Fire Pit
Bonfires are one of the best things about the Fall, so why not let your geek flag fly while toasting marshmallows or the breathing mask of a Sith master.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild Backpacks
Warning: it will light on fire if you hold it near flames. I should also note it will break after repeated use against enemy weapons. But on the plus side it looks cute and you can carry all you stuff around in it while proclaiming your love of Zelda to the world.
Ficmax Ergonomic High-back Large Size Office Desk Chair
I’m an RPG player, so I spend a lot of time parked on the couch, numbing my butt as I wander through random forests, grinding up my levels. Investing in a proper gaming chair is the nicest thing I can do to my posterior without having to actually get up and exercise.
6 Feet Yogibo Max Giant Bean Bag
Yes. It’s a god damn giant beanbag for 300 bucks. Yes it’s worth every cent. I have a couch in my office/nerd cave that I was using to play video games on and to sit on when I was sick of my office chair, but there’s something to be said about feeling like a 10 year old and sitting on the floor to game. Problem one: I have hardwood floors. Problem two: it’s getting cold, and sitting on the floor in the winter is too chilly for me. Enter the Yogibo: and now I sit on a purple cloud of amazingness. Also, both my kids can come in and jump into it with me and they’re FORCED to cuddle me while my son forces me to play Lego Marvel Super Heroes for the billionth time. This might not work when they’re teenagers, but for now I’ll take all the time I can.
