In her first holiday spectacular, Faith has to save her favorite childhood memory from the fate of oblivion. Is it good?

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly comics podcast!

Faith is taking a much needed vacation in a quiet, snowy village and discovers a postcard from her favorite childhood TV show, a spin on Alice in Wonderland. As she’s walking home, the White Rabbit from the show appears, and Faith tumbles down a rabbit hole into Wonderland, where she learns the land has been taken over by an evil queen. Can Faith save Wonderland and her holiday?

Is It Good?

The overall story is very sweet and a nice story for the holidays. The adventure in Wonderland is a fun take on the stories we know, but with interesting twists. Faith fighting her way through Wonderland keeps the pace popping, and the bold colors keep the eye engaged.

On the flip side, however, the story is also a bit didactic, with the messaging about advertising, gender norms, and staying true to your dreams fairly heavy handed. The design of Wonderland and the Alice show don’t look like period clothing or traditional Alice, just some odd choices there. Of the two artists on the issue, MJ Kim’s panels stood out as the more interesting and appealing.

While this is a fun break from the main story, there isn’t a lot of depth here. It’s as candy-colored as the art in the issue.
