The second issue of Coyotes easily looks as good as the first, if not better. There’s such a wonderful flow to the lines it’s hard not to get forget that there are words to read too! This issue starts with a man in a suit and a man in a lab coat observing a captured werewolf. Enter mystery and intrigue. Everyone knows that the guys pulling the strings usually wear bad suits and lab coats, right? After this insight into what looks like a shady organization we continue our story following Analia and her friend Eyepatch but this time the police are involved too.

Who are these mystery girls and what is this gang of women they belong to planning? The second issue reads far too quickly and I feel that it possibly loses something along the way. That being said I can’t neglect the fact that it is a great read. There’s a feeling of excitement, peril and fear. It helps that the main protagonist is a young girl. It makes for a more adventurous read.

The pacing of the story is fast compared to the release of the individual issues. Pacing in comics is one of the hardest things to nail and it’s especially difficult in an episodic format. It seems most things are written for collection and reading them in installments just feels like previews and trailers for the eventual final product. That being said I would be doing the title a disservice if I said I wasn’t enjoying it, which I am. Overall it’s a pretty neat series. It’s still got great dialogue and characters and the story has all of the cool stuff like fighting, swearing, mystery and monsters. What more could you ask for?
