Avengers: Infinity War

‘This is his movie,’ says ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ director about Thanos

The Avengers: Infinity War director can’t wait to see how audiences react to the film’s antagonist, Thanos.

Upon first seeing the Avengers: Infinity War trailer, AiPT! contributor/cosplay editor JJ Travers had the following to say in his article detailing the locations of the Infinity Stones Thanos will be hunting down in the film:

With all the goosebump-inducing moments and juicy reveals the release of the Infinity War trailer has provided, the biggest has to be the Mad Titan himself wearing the Infinity Gauntlet with the Space and Power Stones equipped. We know the ultimate goal of Thanos is to possess all of the Infinity Stones, which is a terrifying prospect for the Avengers and the rest of the universe

We already know that the looming threat of Thanos (Josh Brolin) is undeniable (thanks to leaked footage, we know it’s possible that Drax from the Guardians of the Galaxy might be his first casualty) and Avengers: Infinity War director Joe Russo further emphasized that notion in a recent Q&A session alongside brother/co-director Anthony Russo on the Infinity War set:

I’m most excited for the audience to learn about [Thanos]. I think he’s a very interesting and complex villain. That’s why I like him, that’s why I’m excited for the audience to learn about him. I think his motivations are, albeit, psychotic, compelling, and I think that this, in a lot of ways, is his movie, so it’s going to be very interesting to see how people respond to Thanos.

Thanos is widely regarded as one of the most impressive villains in the Marvel Universe, so Russo’s description of the Mad Titan as “interesting and complex… albeit, psychotic [and] compelling” has us excited to see how he’s actualized on the big screen.

Looking forward to seeing Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War (in theaters May 4th, 2018)? Sound off in the comments.
