Star Wars: Liam Neeson not opposed to returning as Qui-Gon Jinn

Will Liam Neeson return as Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in future Star Wars films?

Actor Ewan McGregor’s appearance at the Golden Globes sporting a suspiciously Obi-Wan-esque beard stirred up chatter about the legendary Jedi’s upcoming solo movie — but what about his Master, the venerable Qui-Gon Jinn? In a recent interview with Yahoo Movies UK about his upcoming film The Commuter, the conversation naturally shifted towards Star Wars and Qui-Gon actor Liam Neeson weighed in with his thoughts:

This is the first time I’m hearing of this. No one’s been in touch with me [but] I know in the Star Wars world anything is possible.

In the first one, The Phantom Menace, I died but we know, you know, Jedis come back and stuff but no one’s been in touch. We’ll see.

Qui-Gonn was in fact the first Jedi to learn the ability to “come back” as a Jedi Force ghost, as we learned in the prequel trilogy. There’s no concrete evidence either way yet towards Qui-Gonn’s return, but like Neeson said, in the Star Wars world, anything is possible. Here’s what Neeson said about his character in Star Wars: The Making of Episode I The Phantom Menace:

He’s almost like a monk, an old-time warrior who is wise and quite philosophical, yet very skilled in martial arts. He has incredible confidence, as well as a magical quality that enables him to see into the future. He’s not really a rebel, but he has his own code.

Would you like to see Liam Neeson make another appearance as Qui-Gon Jinn in the Disney Star Wars films? Sound off in the comments.
