Maybe it was inevitable, but according to Collider Movie Talk Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be making an apperance in Tom Hardy’s upcoming Venom film. Given that Sony is producing both of these properties it seems like a no brainer. There were rumblings from the Sony camp that Venom and Spidey wouldn’t be crossing paths–seemingly to assuage fans that they’ll be focusing on each film and not ruining things like The Mummy sadly did–but it’s all but confirmed by movie news scooper Joe Schnepp.
“I’m gonna say it right here on this show, Spider-Man is gonna be in Venom,” Schnepp said. He reiterated what Sony has been saying all along, saying, “we’ve been talking about Venom, we’ve been hearing about how Sony’s keeping it all separated. Spider-Man’s in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but every other character that’s in the Spider-Man universe is separate.”
Even if it’s a cameo, which Schnepp goes on to suggest will be how Holland appears, fans should get a kick out of seeing these two in a film together, again. Yep, this isn’t the first time Venom and Spider-Man have been on screen together, but hopefully this time it’ll leave fans wanting more. Giving Venom an entire film for himself seems like a logical way to fix things. If you’re feeling adventurous, check out the Venom fan film that was making its rounds on the internet four years ago.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Venom is scheduled to reach theaters October 5, 2018.
