Overwatch, Blizzard’s hugely popular team-based first person shooting game, is receiving its biggest update in quite a while today. First and foremost, the update includes a new map, dubbed “Blizzard World.” Blizzard World is essentially what Disney World would look like if it was themed around Blizzard properties like Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft. There’s a Hearthstone tavern, Orgrimmar and Stormwind facsimiles, and Diablo-style crypts to duke it out in.
In addition to the new map, over 100 new cosmetic items are being added to the game. Many of the new skins are based on the characters’ heritage — for instance, Hanzo gets a traditional kabuki-style skin, while Asp-Pharah celebrates her Egyptian heritage. Others, like D.Va’s black cat skin, is just plain awesome. Some, in conjunction with Blizzard World’s release, will be themed around other Blizzard properties.
Tomorrow our cosmetics update arrives in Overwatch!
