Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting a revamp with Riri at the helm in ‘Invincible Iron Man’ #599

And the guy giving Riri the idea hasn’t been seen in years.

SPOILERS ahead. You’ve been warned.

Read our review for more details on this issue.

You just know Brian Michael Bendis is saving the best for last. Sure he’s already writing for DC Comics (and making big changes), but Invincible Iron Man is still going with some major revelations dropping in the latest issue. One of those revelations involves a master scientist taking control of Riri’s armor.

Who could be so smart to hack Riri’s suit? Why, none other than one of the first ever S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Yep, that’s Leonardo da Vinci. He was last seen in Secret Warriors #28 and his appearance here might be why rumors have Jonathan Hickman joining Marvel Comics once again. Either way, what he says is more important as he seems to suggest a new agency needs to be created to fill the void of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the two who may run it are Riri Williams and Toni Ho.

Not only does this give Riri a whole new direction, but it brings into question who might be helping the heroes on the ground in future battles.

There’s even more news coming out of this issue all about Tony Stark’s dad, read it here.
