Kate Kane is coming to the Arrow-verse in 2019.
Looks like Kate Kane will be getting her own series on The CW, joining Arrow, Supergirl and The Flash.
According to a Variety report, The CW is developing a Batwoman series to debut sometime in 2019 (should it get picked up). Caroline Dries, who worked with The CW on The Vampire Diaries and the Melrose Place reboot, will be the show’s writer and executive producer.
Kate Kane, better known as Batwoman, is a deadly street fighter with a penchant for social justice — she is also an openly gay woman, helping bolster The CW’s already impressive resume of inclusion.
Over in DC Comics, Batwoman is in the middle of a generally well received run by writer Marguerite Bennett and artist Fernando Blanco. However, back in May, DC revealed the series had been cancelled — August’s issue #18 will be the series’ final issue.
This is great news for the Arrow-verse as Batwoman is an intriguing superhero fans have been clamoring for for some time. We’ll have to wait until 2019 to see how it pans out.
