DC Universe’s ‘Titans’ will premiere at New York Comic Con

DC Universe’s flagship show drops this October to lucky convention goers.

There’s a lot to look forward to at this year’s New York Comic Con — and as of today, you can add “DC Universe world premiere” to the list. DC announced today via a press conference that one of their upcoming streaming service‘s exclusive shows, Titans, will premiere at the event.

Titans’ first trailer dropped in July, depicting a much grittier, darker version of the group, including a shot of Robin saying “fuck Batman.” The surprising direction lead to a very mixed reaction to the trailer online, making this world premiere that much more interesting.

A lot is riding on the DC Universe streaming service. In addition to original programming, Universe boasts classic movies and shows, news, exclusive merchandise, and even a “curated selection” of digital comic books. We’ll find out next month how good its flagship show actually is.

Titans, the live action TV series based on DC’s youthful superteam, debuts exclusively on the DC Universe digital service on October 12th. But if you’d like to see it before then…well, you’re going to have to come to New York.

Announced during last week’s DC Daily livestream, New York Comic Con will play host to the World Premiere of Titans on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Q & A session featuring stars Brenton Thwaites, Teagan Croft, Anna Diop, Ryan Potter, Minka Kelly and Alan Ritchson as well as some of the show’s executive producers.

Considering what a reaction the trailer got this summer at San Diego Comic-Con, and how much we still don’t know about the series as a whole, look for that post-screening interview to shed some real light DC Universe’s first original series.

But while the Titans premiere kicks off NYCC, it’s not the only #DCTV show getting the spotlight. Gotham will also be celebrated with a panel that will mark the show’s last NYCC appearance ahead of its upcoming fifth and final season. While we don’t know who will be appearing just yet, expect a lively lineup of stars and producers ready to dish about the show’s sure-to-be-explosive (you did see the season four finale, right?) swan song. Look for the Gotham Special Video Presentation and Q&A panel on Sunday, October 7th at 11 a.m.

You can find WBTV’s full panel descriptions for both of these can’t-miss presentations below. We’ll see you in New York, Bat fans!
7:30 p.m. Titans World Premiere Screening and Q&A — Warner Bros. Television’s highly anticipated, live-action dramatic adventure series Titans will be the first original series to launch on the upcoming DC UNIVERSE, the first-of-its-kind digital subscription service that gives fans access to exclusive content and experiences not available anywhere else. But before its October 12 debut on the DC UNIVERSE service, Titans will serve as the kickoff event for New York Comic Con 2018, with an exclusive world premiere screening on Wednesday night followed by a Q&A session with series stars and executive producers.

NYCC fans will be among the first to see the new series, as Robin and friends take over the Big Apple for this world premiere event. After the screening, series stars Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), Teagan Croft (The Osiris Child), Anna Diop (24: Legacy), Ryan Potter (Big Hero 6: The Series), Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) and Alan Ritchson (Blood Drive) will join executive producers for an on-stage Q&A.

From executive producers Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery), Geoff Johns (Arrow), Greg Berlanti (The Flash), Greg Walker (Extant), Sarah Schechter (Supergirl) and John Fawcett (Orphan Black), Titans follows a group of young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.

From Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, Titans is one of the all-new exclusive original live-action series coming soon to DC UNIVERSE. The series debuts Friday, October 12, which new episodes released weekly.
