BlizzCon 2018 all-access kickoff livestream provides a look at this year’s BlizzCon Virtual Ticket

A new legendary Sombra skin, cosplay galore and a look at the secret Blizzard vault.

When Blizzard started BlizzCon in 2005 there were 8,000 fans in attendance and there were two games being celebrated, World of Warcraft and Starcraft. Blizzard estimates this year’s BlizzCon will see 35,000 fans in attendance and all six games in the franchise will be celebrated.

Things have clearly changed a lot since BlizzCon began and Blizzard has millions upon millions of fans and players all across the world. Last year’s BlizzCon saw players and attendees from 180 different countries.

This year Blizzard celebrates their 12th BlizzCon and while we’d all love to be there, the sad reality is there just isn’t enough tickets to go around. That’s where the BlizzCon virtual ticket comes in. The virtual ticket allows fans to participate in BlizzCon, even if they weren’t lucky enough to get their hands on a ticket to attend in person.

Through the virtual ticket fans will gain access to all of the esport tournaments taking place at BlizzCon this year, including the Overwatch World Cup, World of Warcraft Arena Invitational, World of Warcraft Mythic Dungeon Invitational, a Heroes of the Storm tournament with a 1 million dollar price pool and more.

Several new video series will be available as well, The Vault and Drawn to Adventure. You can watch the first episodes right now for free on BlizzCon.com but you’ll get access to every episode through the virtual ticket. Reinhardt voice actor Darin De Paul will be hosting episode 1 of The Vault, which explores rare and unique items Blizzard has kept from each of their franchices.

Drawn to Adventure will take you behind the creative process of bringing Blizzard characters to life with the incredibly talented artists working at Blizzard. There’ll be new content every week leading up to BlizzCon and over 40 different episodes across the different series.

Per Blizzard tradition there will be exclusive in-game goodies that you can only get your hands on through a BlizzCon ticket or a virtual ticket. All six games will be receiving exclusive goodies, the first of which has been revealed as a new legendary Demon Hunter skin for Overwatch’s Sombra.

Fans attending BlizzCon will receive goodie bags and anyone has the option to purchase one, regardless of whether they have a ticket or not. Though if you purchase a virtual ticket, you’ll receive $10 off your purchase. You will also get early access to BlizzCon online merch sales.

Community Night is also a huge deal at BlizzCon. The cosplay contest traditionally has allowed for 100 entrants, but this year there’s no limit on how many people can apply and the top 25 contestants will get to walk the stage later that night.

There’s five new categories for the insanely talented Blizzard cosplayers to compete in: fabrication, team construction, individual construction, artisan crafts, and make-up and special effects. The price pool for the cosplay contest is $25,000.

BlizzCon 2018 is being held in Anaheim, California from Nov. 2 to 3. You can purchase a virtual ticket here. Be sure to check back with us for more news on in-game goodies and BlizzCon events.
