First official Captain Marvel trailer reveals the costume, Ronan, and…Blockbuster?

The first trailer for Captain Marvel is here!

Is it time to break Good Morning America or nah? It seems almost redundant to say that an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe release is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, this is especially true of next year’s Captain Marvel.

The latest Marvel movie just got a flashy new trailer which aired on GMA this morning. The trailer introduces the world to Captain Marvel and prominently shows how it takes place prior to any of the MCU movies so far. Take a look:

Starring Academy Award winner Brie Larson, the next movie in the MCU will take place in the 1990s and follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the mightiest superheroes in the galaxy. The has been the subject of rumors for years and anticipation kicked into high gear after the post-credits scene in Infinity War.

The trailer opens with Carol Danvers being shot through a deserted (but at least the outdoor lights still work!) Blockbuster video rental store. The trailer then cuts to moments clearly set in the past since Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury still has two eyes and Agent Coulson is still alive. Other highlights include an appearance by Ronan the Accuser as well as Captain Marvel’s green and traditional red and blue suit. Featuring space battles, car chases, and Samuel L. Jackson with a full head of hair, the film looks like everything that fans have waited been waiting years for.

Captain Marvel premieres March 8, 2019.
