Overwatch: New hero Ashe is now playable on live servers

B.O.B! Do somethin’!

The wait is finally over. Overwatch’s newest hero, Ashe, is now available for play on the live server. And honestly, it wasn’t really that much of a wait.

New heroes typically spend a few weeks on the PTR (public test realm) before being released to the live servers. This allows Blizzard to source player feedback, tune, and observe how a new hero impacts the current meta so they aren’t prematurely released into the wild and inadvertently cause massive imbalance issues. But after just over a week on the PTR Ashe is now available for players on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Looks like Blizzard is getting pretty good at balancing new heroes.

Per standard protocol for all newly released heroes, Ashe won’t be available in Competitive Play for two weeks.

Blizzard announced Ashe’s release in today’s patch notes, describing her as a “versatile offensive hero, capable of setting up the perfect situation to shoot down dangerous enemies from range or deal high area-of-effect burst damage to groups of heroes.”

Players got their first look at Ashe in Blizzard’s newest Overwatch cinematic “Reunion” released earlier this month at BlizzCon. As the leader of the Deadlock Gang, Ashe has become a respected figure in the criminal underworld. If you’d like to learn more about where she came from and her abilities, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Alongside the release of Ashe, this patch also brings buffs to Symmetra, Roadhog, Mercy, and Reaper.
