Westworld’s Leonardo Nam Joins the cast of DC Universe’s Swamp Thing

Nam is set for a recurring role in DC’s upcoming comic based horror series.

According to a report out of Deadline, Westworld‘s Leonardo Nam has become the latest star to join the cast of DC Universe’s upcoming live-action horror series Swamp Thing. Nam has been cast opposite of Crystal Reed in the role of Harlan Edwards, a gay CDC specialist who assists Reed’s character, Abby Arcane, as she investigates a suspected swamp-born virus in a small Louisiana town. Harlan Edwards is not a character that exists within the DC Comics universe, thus it’s unclear at this time how significant his contributions will be.

DC’s new streaming service has already completed most of its Swamp Thing casting with Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Crystal Reed as Dr. Abigail Arcane, Jennifer Beal as Sheriff Lucilia Cable, Ian Ziering as Blue Devil, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue / The Floronic Man, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, and Henderson Wade as Matt Cable.

Len Wiseman (Sleepy Hollow) will be directing the pilot episode, as well as executive producing. Gary Dauberman (It) and Mark Verheiden (Netflix’s Daredevil) are the series’ showrunners and will be co-writing the series. James Wan (Aquaman) will be executive producing alongside Michael Clear, with Wan’s production company, Atomic Monster Productions.

Swamp Thing is a humanoid elemental plant creature created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson and made his first appearance in comics in July 1971. Living in a swamp, Swamp Thing protects the environment and his beloved swamp from humanity’s encroachment and battles a host of supernatural foes.

DC has yet to officially announce a release date for Swamp Thing, but we do know it’s coming some time this year. At New York Comic Con 2018 in October, AiPT! staff were able to obtain the image below during the DC Universe panel, which leads us to believe fans should expect Swamp Thing to be released sometime around June of 2019.

AiPT! broke the news in an exclusive story in early August of 2018 that the Swamp Thing comic book would be returning as a regular series with Scott Snyder writing and Greg Capullo drawing. Be sure to check back with us for more news on the upcoming Swamp Thing live-action series and comic book.
