Nickelodeon developing new ‘Star Trek’ animated series

Written by Trollhunters’ Hageman brothers.

Nickelodeon plans to boldly go where no one has gone before, as Deadline reports that the network is in negotiations to air a new Star Trek animated series. It’d be the latest of the burgeoning number of Trek shows with CBS All Access streaming Star Trek: Discovery and Section 31 (starring Michelle Yeoh), adult animated series Upper Decks and Patrick Stewart-led Picard on the way.

However, this will be the first Star Trek animated series since Star Trek: The Animated Series ended in 1974. This one, naturally being that it’s on Nickelodeon, will be aimed at younger audiences. Trollhunters writers Kevin and Dan Hageman have written it, while it hails from CBS TV Studios and Secret Hideout, a banner from Trek veteran Alex Kurtzman.

The premise for the series is currently unknown, but be sure to keep your eyes on AiPT! for further details as they arrive.
