Kevin Feige on Deadpool sequels being R-rated under Disney: “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.”

Those who feared Deadpool’s demeanor would be diluted after the jump to Disney can rest easy.

We already knew Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige would be overseeing Deadpool and other marquee Fox Marvel properties once the Disney/Fox merger blockbuster business deal was completed and apparently any fears that the Regeneratin’ Degenerate’s infamous motor-mouth might be mitigated after the jump to the family friendly Disney fold can be allayed — Feige won’t be altering the Merc with a Mouth’s formula just to sate Disney’s wholesome, family friendly image.

“When we were purchased, Bob said to us, ‘if it’s not broke, don’t fix it,'” said Feige in an interview with Variety. “There’s no question that Deadpool is working, so why would we change it?”

Whether or not R-rated films such as Logan will continue to be made under Feige’s run remains to be seen but Merc with a Mouth fans can rest easy knowing Deadpool won’t be diluted to fit any family friendly criterion. Whether Ryan Reynolds will star in an X-Force film or Deadpool 3 first under the merger is still uncertain as well, although an appearance by Ryan Reynolds on Lorraine confirmed a few things we might have already known: Reynolds was born to play the character, Deadpool 3 is a definite and he “badgers Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) weekly to put the claws back on.”

Will we finally get to see Deadpool and Wolverine together on the big screen under the Marvel Studios banner? Or are there more pressing team-ups for the Merc with a Mouth to tend to first? Sound off in the comments.
