Game of Thrones S8E2, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” was another heartfelt, emotional episode that seemed just as much a farewell tribute to the characters we’ve gotten to know over the past eight years as it was a setup for the looming battle with the White Walkers; with S8E3 however, the wait is over and the the battle of Winterfell is finally upon us.
HBO released six images from the still as of yet unnamed S8E3, which feature Sansa and Arya overlooking the battlements of Winterfell; Brienne and Jaime Lannister readying their regiment for the approaching White Walker forces; Jon Snow and Daenerys overlooking the battlefield; Jon Snow staring in disbelief at something unseen; and Tyrion and Varys in what is ostensibly the Crypts of Winterfell.
Game of Thrones S8E3 will clock in at 83 minutes, making it the longest GoT episode ever; director Miguel Sapochnik, who also directed the excellent “Battle of the Bastards” episode took the reins once again for this episode, which reportedly took an unparalleled 55 days to film. Tune in to HBO at 9PM EST this Sunday.
