If you thought one talking videogame character was enough for 2019 think again. Along with Detective Pikachu, a specific blue supersonic hedgehog is also getting his big-time live-action movie debut. Everyone’s favorite Sega spokesman Sonic the Hedgehog has a film coming out this November. Check out the full trailer below:
The character first hit the scene in 1991 so it harbors a similar nostalgic value for audiences in their thirties and forties. It’s worth noting the stars attached are no lightweights as James Marsden (most famous for his role as Cyclops in the X-Men movies) stars as Sonic’s good-guy human counterpart and Jim Carey stars as Sonic’s archnemesis Doctor Eggman.
The biggest takeaway might be how strange Sonic looks. He’s been humanized a bit too much and doesn’t quite look himself. I’d liken his face to something out of the Jim Carrey starred Grinch movie. Speaking of Carrey it appears he’s doing his usual comedy schtick of weird, over-the-top acting.
What say you, do you like the look? Are you jazzed for this film? Let us know in the comments.
Sonic the Hedgehog will drop in theaters November 8, 2019.
