Remakes and remasters have entered the gaming zeitgeist. After nearly 26 years, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is finally getting a Nintendo Switch remake. The best part of all? Fans can mark their calendars for the announced release date: September 20, 2019. Sooner than some expected.
New footage was revealed in today’s Nintendo Direct to satiate fans desire for every bit of further information to come out of Nintendo. Like many of Nintendo’s recent outing, there is now a Dungeon Maker system in Links Awakening. It isn’t hard to imagine the creative depths fans will extract from this system shortly after release. The customization appears intuitive, players can place dungeon tiles on a grid to reap the best the system has to offer. Anticipate more details regarding the feature as the release date nears.
Zelda games are known for their upgrades and unique items, dungeon abilities are now a part of that as well. Exploring Kolohint Island will open dungeon chambers for use; once obtained, you can use it in customizing your dungeons. It appears clearing these custom chambers will also reap the rewards for those willing to take on the challenge. The simple addition adds more depth and longevity to a remake that is already garnering fanfare.
The new footage revealed new bits of game play and several major bosses from the original Link’s Awakening. Be sure to check out the trailer and see what you remember from the original, be sure include your comments below.
