You need to prepare yourself fellow adventurers and ’80s fans, because we’re going back to the Upside Down.
Monday morning Netflix announced that they have officially renewed Stranger Things for Season 4. The wildly popular sci-fi horror series and its fans received the news only a few months after the third season was released.
The announcement was made on the Stranger Things Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Accompanying the announcement is a teaser clip that shows part of the town of Hawkins Illinois being rapidly devoured by the Upside Down, followed by the statement “We’re not in Hawkins anymore,” ominous rolling in.
Season 3 was extremely well received by fans and critics alike, breaking multiple Netflix records. The streaming giant reported that within four days of Season 3’s release, nearly 41 million accounts had watched at least 70% of one episode, shattering the previous record for Netflix programs. Within the same time period, 18.2 million accounts had viewed the entire season.
Show creators, Matt and Russ Duffer, aka the Duffer Brothers, have been signed to a multi-year film and series deal with Netflix, and have stated before that if the series is to continue, it will need to move away from the small town of Hawkins. Whether or not the much beloved characters move with it, remains to be seen.
There’s no word yet on when Season 4 will be released, how many episodes there will be, the plot, or who, if any of the former cast will return.
