Solicits for this book state this is “Chewbacca Unleashed,” which is pretty fantastic. On top of that we see Chewbacca actually laying down in pain. Weird, right? I can’t recall ever seeing him not standing. (Editor’s Note: What, you don’t remember seeing “Chillaxin’ Chewie” from Chewbacca #1?)
Is it good?
Star Wars #11 (Marvel Comics)
The big story beats are that Han Solo is married and Leia is a bit peeved about; Luke Skywalker has been sold into slavery for a Hutt who owns a gladiatorial ring and a collection of Jedi artifacts; and finally Chewbacca and C-3PO are working on saving Luke. All three elements come closer together in this issue.

Why does this comic book matter?
Chewbacca unleashed isn’t getting you jazzed up? Okay how about seeing a Luke Skywalker with no Jedi training fighting a giant beast in the ring, which is reminiscent of Return of the Jedi?
They mean Yoda!
Fine, you have my attention. What’s good about it?
Writer Jason Aaron mentioned in our interview there was more to the Han Solo being married story and this issue reveals that. It’s a nice moment as Aaron uses it to show how Han actually feels for Leia a lot more than we thought at this point. The explanation is satisfying as well, although why the woman (Sana) continues to argue she and Han are still married is an element that needs more exploration.
This issue bounces between Chewie, Luke and Han quite well and it never feels boring because of that. Essentially Aaron has put them all in a dicey situation and they’re all having bad luck at the moment. I don’t want to say the resolution we’re working towards is that “it’s good to have friends,” but I’d suspect that might be the case based on this issue’s end, as it’s rife with characters helping their friends and even C-3PO gets in on the fun as he gives Chewie a fighting chance against the famous bounty hunter Dengar.
Meanwhile there’s an epic battle with Luke vs. a big bad monster. Stuart Immonen continues to nail the dramatic beats, casting Luke in shadow to make his impending battle all the more epic. Characters continue to look great too. The acting by these characters is phenomenal and their expressions tell the story just as well as the dialogue.
It can’t be perfect can it?
Because it bounces around these three stories the story doesn’t progress all that much, but the action is fun and entertaining so why not!?

Is It Good?
This is yet another great installment in the best Star Wars series on the stands. It’s always exciting much like the films, continues to have good character beats and is incredibly well paced. Dig it.
