I’m sure I’m not the only one excited to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Since Baby Groot is such a crowd-pleaser, I decided to make delicious trifle-filled pots for him to live in. You can top these tiny pots with some cute cutouts from the internet, or buy a couple figures to use as toppers! The latter is sure to make every child and collector happy (unless they’re the MIB type, then they’ll hold a grudge). Ingredients
1 chocolate cake, unfrosted (from your favorite recipe [this one is mine], a box mix, or from the bakery section of the store)
1 batch of chocolate pudding (again, homemade, boxed, or from the dairy case)
1 container Cool Whip (you could use whipped cream, but Cool Whip holds up a bit better over time if you’re not serving these right away. Also, so easy)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Crushed Oreos
Special Equipment
Flower pot cupcake liners (I found mine on Amazon)
Toppers: Groot pictures, printed on cardstock, cut out, and taped to toothpicks OR some small action figures (I used the Funko Pint Size Heroes & Disney Tsum Tsum figures)
Directions:
- Cut your cake into small pieces (½ inch-ish cubes, it doesn’t have to be perfect, though).
- Whisk together vanilla and Cool Whip (or whipped cream).
- Layer ingredients in each of your flower pots: Cake pieces, then pudding, then Cool Whip
- Finish with a generous amount of crushed Oreos, so you can’t see any cool whip below
- Top with a Groot!
So easy, right? Spoiler warning … it’s even more delicious! Try it and let me know what you think!
