NYCC 2017: Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency season 2 proves to be even more bizarre than the first

We got to see the first episode of BBC America’s “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” at New York City Comic Con 2017.

New York Comic Con audiences were treated to an advanced screening of the Season 2 premiere of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.

And if you thought the show couldn’t get stranger than solving mysteries by following clues in cosmic coincidences, timey-whimey time travel, and human/animal body-swapping, the new season immediately ups the ante.

But first–BEWARE–Slight spoilers ahead! The opening scene involves a sword battle in a medieval fantasy universe where one knight is dispatched by his lover to find Dirk Gently.

Now, two months after the events of last season, Dirk is a captive being experimented on by the Black Hawk men. He explains he’s not psychic and that the cases find him, but his captives aren’t listening. All their other experimental subjects proved horribly disappointing, and they’re desperate to find someone with powers that are actually useful.

Meanwhile Todd and Farah are both on the run from the law as Todd, now convinced “It’s all leading somewhere,” sees signs everywhere (like literally everywhere) that they’re getting closer to the Sherlock to his Watson.

This leads the pair to an old boat inexplicably lying in a field and small town in the middle of nowhere that’s about to find itself at the center of this season’s larger mystery. Among the town’s residents are a super-friendly cop who crosses paths with Todd and Farah in the premiere and a single mother who finds herself in possession of some powerful objects.

Todd’s sister Amanda is on her own journey while fan-favorite Bart also returns with a dramatic entrance.
