The depiction of Superman in Zack Snyder’s movies Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice have been extremely divisive, with many fans not liking the darker, brooding version of the Man of Steel on the big screen as opposed to the brighter, more hopeful one we’re used to in the comic books.
According to Superman actor Hendry Cavill a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, that will change in Justice League. DC legend Geoff Johns was personally responsible for creating a faithful rendition of the comic book character.
Says Cavill, "Geoff and I have been delving into the history of the character to get to the core of who Superman is. This is the first time we see the true Superman. The Superman who is confident, and sure, and full of hope and joy."
Hopefully this ends up being true and the Superman we see in Justice League is not the joyless version we’ve seen in past films. With the positive early reactions to the movie, however, it seems that we may be getting the version of Superman we want.
Justice League opens in the United States on November 17, 2017. It stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
