The aesthetic of the Star Wars universe is a huge part of the series’ appeal, and here at AiPT! we’re always looking for clues within the concept art that might provide important story beats (such as Snoke being the first Jedi in the Star Wars: The Last Jedi Visual Dictionary). Christmas came a little early for us when we got our hands on the recently released The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a hardcover book that sees plenty of intriguing concept pieces inspiring what we saw on the big screen.

Some of the more striking pieces on first glance?

This look at the casino on Canto Bight, which features a few familiar alien races not seen in the final film cut, such as a Gamorrean, a Twi’lek, a Rodian and a Trandoshan (Bossk the bounty hunter’s reptilian race):
