The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, tentatively titled Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 begins filming this June. Plot details remain scarce at this point but director Jon Watts will return to the director’s seat to chronicle Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland)’s ongoing attempts to balance the responsibilities of high school/teenage life and superheroism.
The Phase Four MCU film will take place after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, the latter of which will shake up the status quo of the MCU Phase Three in a major way. Michelle (played by actress/singer Zendaya), Jacob Batalon (Peter’s best friend Ned) and Marisa Tomei (Aunt May) are all rumored to return to their respective roles as well.
Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Spidey’s mentor in Homecoming likely won’t be reappearing in Homecoming 2, though director Watts has stated that another big MCU player will. Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is scheduled for a July 5th, 2019 release.
