Star Wars’ Chewbacca’s #RoarForChange Challenge

The most famous Wookie in the galaxy has a challenge for you.

Here at AiPT! we have a serious Star Wars obsession — like, super duper serious. We spent the entire month of December talking about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and with Solo: A Star Wars Story coming out May 25th, we decided to do it all over again. For the next month AiPT! will be flooded with Star Wars YouTube videos, podcasts, cosplay, comic reviews, novel reviews, and hell, maybe we’ll even dive back into the dreaded holiday special from the ’70s.

“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, … [such as] caring about other people–these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives. You don’t have to get into a giant laser-sword fight and blow up three spaceships to become a hero.”
– George Lucas, Interview with Bill Moyers in Time, 1999

Everyone knows Chewbacca, he’s easily the most famous Wookie in the galaxy. Lately it seems that it just may be possible that fame has gone to his head. Recently he’s been described as a “Complete diva” by Donald Glover and word has gotten out that he has an entire crew to himself just for grooming purposes.

But that doesn’t mean big headed Wookie can’t still do some good. Chewbacca is challenging Star Wars fans to be a hero and RoarForChange. Ron Howard, director of Solo: A Star Wars Story breaks down the challenge for us in the latest video out of the Star Wars YouTube channel.

Do you love Star Wars? Do you want to help be a part of lifesaving work for children around the world? Of course the answer is a resounding yes for both questions! So be sure to take part in the #RoarForChange challenge.

To participate all you need to do is record yourself giving your best Chewbacca roar and post it to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. For each public post, like, or share that includes #RoarForChange between May 3 – 25, 2018, Star Wars: Force for Change U.S. will donate $1 to UNICEF USA, up to $1 million in total donations are possible. Funds will be used to support UNICEF’s lifesaving work for children all over the world. Learn more at ForceForChange.com.
