Ruby Rose cast as Batwoman in The CW’s upcoming crossover

The pieces of a Batwoman series continue to fall into place.

The CW has found its Batwoman, according to a Variety report.

It was reported last month that The CW was planning a Batwoman television series, but at the time, no actor was attached to the role. Today, the network revealed that Ruby Rose will take on the role. Rose will first appear in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover event, and, if all goes according to plan, will also appear in a standalone Batwoman series.

Batwoman, otherwise known as Kate Kane, is a highly skilled fighter with a penchant for social justice. The fan favorite character is also openly gay, adding to The CW’s portfolio of inclusive superhero characters.

Ruby Rose is best known for her role as inmate Stella Carlin on the hit Netflix show Orange is the New Black. She has also appeared in movies such as Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and John Wick Chapter 2.

The CW’s Arrowverse crossover starts this December.
