Evolution is reuniting at WWE SmackDown 1000

The entire band is back together, including Batista.

The 1000th episode of WWE SmackDown is quickly approaching — the historic episode of WWE’s (other) flagship show will go down Tuesday, October 16 from Washington, DC. It may be hard to remember that, though, since the show’s promotion has been downright anemic compared to Raw‘s 1000th episode back in 2012, and Raw‘s 25th anniversary show earlier this year.

Today, however, WWE made a big announcement: Evolution will be reuniting on the show. The full Evolution, too — Triple H, Ric Flair, Randy Orton and Batista will all be in attendance.

Evolution reunited in 2014 after WrestleMania XXX, but it was missing Ric Flair. Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton feuded with The Shield before Seth Rollins infamously turned his back on his brethren to join forces with Triple H.

This is good news for fans of Batista, who seems to have been somewhat in the doghouse in WWE’s mind for unknown reasons. Batista, who is now a world-famous actor thanks to his role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, has been vocal about his desire for one more run in WWE, while making note that WWE has all but stopped responding to his requests.

We’ll see what happens at SmackDown 1000 — hopefully it sets up one more run for The Animal.
