It’s been a long road, true believers, but here we are: the final matchup of the Last X-Man Standing Tournament. What started as an all-out brawl between 64 of the mightiest mutants in the Marvel Universe has come down to a titanic tilt between two of the toughest heroes ever to don the shiny red X-button–and wouldn’t you know it, both are members of the roster that started it all.

That’s right, it’s Jean “Phoenix” Grey vs. Bobby “Iceman” Drake. While Psylocke managed to make it all the way to the semifinals, her mental abilities weren’t enough to take down Ms. Grey, who bested her with her own psychic powers with 84.2% of the vote. Iceman faced a tougher challenge, duking it out with the master of magnetism himself, Magneto, but ultimately prevailed with 67.2% of the vote. FIGHTING OUT OF THE RED CORNER…

We have the current leader of the Uncanny X-Men, the former host for the Phoenix Force, the love of Cyclops‘ (And Wolverine… and Professor Xavier’s)’s life, and one of the most awkward voiceover jobs in the history of children’s television, Jean Grey! The sanguine seer has torn through the competition, wracking up commanding wins against the likes of the New X-Men’s Armor, X-Factor’s Polaris, the dangerously deadly X-23 and the weather goddess Storm en route to her absolute destruction of the magenta ninja Psylocke.

Feats:

Held together a space shuttle plummeting to Earth from orbit.
Hosted an immortal, cosmic fire bird that allowed her to literally destroy a planet.
Has overcome death on multiple occasions.

FIGHTING OUT OF THE BLUE CORNER…

Currently one of the few X-Men to headline his own series, it’s Spider-Man’s most amazing friend, Iceman! He may be the X-Men’s resident jokester but Bobby making it all the way to the finals is no laughing matter. Iceman managed to topple a string of the X-Men’s heaviest hitters and greatest strategists–Cannonball, Archangel, Cyclops and finally Magneto.

Feats

Is able to reconstitute his organic ice form when damaged.
Can create ice structures that act semi-independently–including multiple Ice Men.

Once created a giant Christmas tree made of ice atop the Empire State Building.
