Netflix and Amblin Entertainment have announced a new horror series, The Haunting of Bly Manor. The two companies partnered previously to produce The Haunting of Hill House, one of the streaming platform’s most acclaimed miniseries.
Taking an anthology approach, the second season will feature an entirely new cast and plot, but will retain series director and writer, Mike Flanagan — who has also worked on films such as Oculus, Gerald’s Game, and Hush. Amblin has also announced that the season will be focused on the works of author Henry James, whose horror novella The Turn of the Screw, features a location called Bly Manor.
Amblin and Dreamworks will also be releasing a feature film based on the novella, titled The Turning, in 2020 per a tweet announcing both the second season of the Netflix series and the film:
And in a nice bit of bookending, we will be releasing the feature film THE TURNING, based on James' THE TURN OF THE SCREW and starring Mackenzie Davis and @FinnSkata, in January 2020. Amblin and DreamWorks is ready to put the screws to your nerves, fans of dread and darkness!
