WonderCon 2019: Swamp Thing to debut on DC Universe May 31

Swamp Thing will terrify DC Universe members on May 31.

At the DC Universe panel at WonderCon, DC Comics announced the much anticipated live-action adaptation of DC Comics’ Swamp Thing will debut on May 31.

The series follows Abby Arcane as she investigates a deadly swamp-born virus in a small Louisiana town, though she quickly discovers the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. WonderCon attendees were treated to an exclusive look at the first trailer of the upcoming show, and the grotesque horror that made the comic so engrossing is present throughout.

Executive Producer Mark Verheiden was on hand to share what was in store for the series, saying their overall goal was to “scare the hell out of you.” He went on to explain how much the show relied on Alan Moore’s classic run on the character for inspiration, also noting they were using as much practical effects as possible.

Fans of Swamp Thing can sign up for DC Universe for $7.99 a month or $74.99 annually. For more WonderCon 2019 news, be sure to follow AiPT! Comics on twitter and keep checking AiPTComics.com.
