A new Grand Design featuring remixes and re-tellings of the Fantastic Four’s most famous stories in the same vein of Ed Piskor’s X-Men: Grand Design is on the way from artist/author Tom Scioli (Godland, Transformers Vs. G.I. Joe) this October.
First announced in a Cartoon Kayfabe YouTube video, with interiors and variant covers (including one from Piskor himself) shared shortly after, Scioli’s story will focus not only on the earliest and most popular Fantastic Four stories but also on those featuring the debuts of other now-famous Marvel characters. That includes Black Panther, Doctor Doom, The Inhumans, and many others.
The series is solicited for only two parts as of now, each looking to clock in at 48 pages, but FF fans can always hold out hope that the series will continue in the same way that X-Men ended up touching on several later stories including X-Tinction Agenda before ending earlier this year.
It’s also exciting, although not surprising, to know that Marvel is interested in continuing the Grand Design series and we’ll keep an eye out for future series, too (the folks behind AiPT!’s famous Spectacular Spider-Month might like a Spider-Man or Venom Grand Design if anyone’s listening).
What do you think? Was Grand Design a flash in the pan that you didn’t expect to continue? Are you excited for a Fantastic Four take? Which ones would you like to see next? Sound off in the comments below!
