CM Punk will be appearing at Starrcast III, the same day as AEW’s All Out event in Chicago, as confirmed by Starrcast’s Twitter account.

The video begins with the same Malcom X quote that opens Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality,” famously CM Punk’s theme song, before zooming in on Chicago and finally confirming that Punk will appear at the event.
CM Punk was one of the biggest stars in all of professional wrestling in the past decade, winning the WWE Championship in July 2011. He would go on to have a reign of 434 days, the longest world title reign of the modern era until Brock Lesnar eclipsed it with the Universal Championship last year. In early 2014, however, his strained relationship with the company led him to suddenly exit the wrestling world and focus on an ultimately unsuccessful career in mixed martial arts.
Since AEW’s founding, questions have swirled surrounding CM Punk’s potential involvement. While WWE as a corporation seemed to cause him to fall out of love with wrestling, AEW seems to be tailor made for him: a company run for the wrestlers, by the wrestlers, without any of the corporate baggage and backstage politicking that a massive, global entity like WWE has to adhere to.
Whether this is a one-off or the beginning of CM Punk’s re-entry into wrestling is unknown at this time, but it is important to note that Starrcast is not officially related to AEW in any way.
Starrcast III and AEW’s All Out will both go down August 31st in Chicago, Illinois.
