Watch: Trailer for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’

If you feel the need, the need . . . for a new Top Gun film.

Top Gun is back. The trailer premiered at the San Diego Comic Con  and it looks like Maverick is older, but still a bit of  a wild card. True to the original, the trailer features fancy flying, beach volleyball, and sunglasses.

The new trailer shows Ed Harris giving Maverick (Tom Cruise) a lecture of sorts. He reveals that Maverick should probably be an admiral by now, but Maverick’s a captain. The film takes place over thirty years after the original and Maverick has taken Bradley Bradshaw, the son of his deceased partner Goose, under his wing. Bradshaw is played by Miles Teller.

Val Kilmer will be reprise his role as Ice Man and it’s not clear whether or not he still finds Maverick dangerous, but either way, the audience should look forward to their interaction. Also joining the cast is John Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, and Jay Ellis.

Paramount Pictures will release Top Gun: Maverick in 2020.
