Markella Kavanagh in talks for ‘Lord of the Rings’ prequel series

Kavanagh will be playing a new character named Tyra.

Even after the end of behemoths like Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, there’s always room for more fantasy, as exemplified by the upcoming Witcher series and a Thrones prequel.

But they aren’t the only new fantasy series on the way, as Amazon is developing a Lord of the Rings prequel series. Now, Variety reports that Markella Kavanagh is in talks to join the series, reportedly playing a new character named Tyra.

Kavanagh recently played Myrtle in Amazon’s Picnic at Hanging Rock, so she has worked with Amazon before. As noted by Variety, the official LOTR prequel’s Twitter account says “Welcome to the Second Age” and as Variety notes, this is when the Rings of Power came to be.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s J.A. Bayona is set to direct multiple episodes, with Game of Thrones’ Bryan Cogman as consultant. Keep your eye on AiPT! and the prequel’s Twitter account for more information as it arrives.
