Stephen Amell will star in upcoming Starz wrestling drama ‘Heels’

The Arrow star turned occasional wrestler is heading up a new series on Starz.

Arrow‘s Stephen Amell has signed with Starz for the lead role in Heels, an upcoming hour long drama series set in the world of professional wrestling. The series is currently signed on for one eight episode season.

Heels will be written by Michael Waldron (Loki) and is set in a small Georgia town where a family-owned wrestling promotion is the battleground for a fight over the family patriarch’s legacy.

Amell’s character, Jack Spade, will be the Duffy Wrestling Association’s lead heel. Stephen Amell confirmed the news on Twitter, sharing Deadline’s original story and asking Cody Rhodes, “wanna come and help me make a tv show?”

Stephen Amell is no stranger to the squared circle. In 2015, he made his pro wrestling debut at WWE’s SummerSlam, teaming up with Neville to defeat King Barrett and Stardust (the aforementioned Cody Rhodes). That angle helped blossom a friendship between Amell and Rhodes, which led to the Arrow star to also compete at All In, the precursor event to AEW, in a losing effort against Christopher Daniels.

No release date for Heels has yet been given.
