Can Bat and Cat love truly overcome all obstacles? Although she may have skipped out on him at the altar back in Batman #50, Catwoman and Batman are reprising their complicated relationship once more in the upcoming Batman #78 as a result of Bat-nemesis Bane and Batman’s father Thomas Wayne (evil Batman from an alternate universe) further cementing their nefarious hold on Gotham City in Batman #77.

In the first part of a “City of Bane” interlude, Batman receives help from an ally he thought he had lost for good: Catwoman! Still recovering from the beatings he took from Bane and Flashpoint Batman, the Dark Knight readies himself for a return to Gotham City, and it’s Selina Kyle who holds the key. She knows how Bane is fueling his regime, and she’ll help Batman shut down the supply line—but first she has to whip the battered hero into shape.
Kudos to Clay Mann for paying homage to the classics; although we hope the infamous “Quiet, or Papa spank!” line doesn’t manage to make it back in Batman’s vernacular.
