New WWE announce teams for Raw, SmackDown and NXT announced

New commentary teams have been unveiled as part of ‘WWE Premiere Week.’

“WWE Premiere Week” is headed our way next week, with eight hours of WWE television headed our way. As part of the fresh coats of paint on WWE’s three main properties — RawSmackDown and NXT — new commentary teams have been announced.

The new teams are as follows:

  • Raw: Vic Joseph on play-by-play, Dio Maddin and Jerry “The King Lawler” as color commentators
  • NXT: Mauro Ranallo on play-by-play, Beth Phoenix and Nigel McGuinness as color commentators
  • SmackDown: Michael Cole on play-by-play, Corey Graves as color commentator and Renee Young as “special contributor”

Essentially, NXT‘s broadcast team will see no changes, while Friday Night SmackDown is inheriting Raw‘s former commentary team. Raw will see the biggest change, bringing on Vic Joseph from 205 Live and NXT UK, newcomer Dio Maddin and bringing back legendary color commentator Jerry “The King” Lawler to reprise his best-known role on the red brand. It is unknown at this time if Vic Joseph will maintain his duties on 205 Live and NXT UK (it is presently unknown what the fate of 205 Live is at all).

WWE is going all out to combat the imminent debut of AEW’s Dynamite program, and professional wrestling is entering a new era as a result. All these changes will go live next week.
