Dial H for Hero has been relegated to cult classic status across its incarnations, but the level of ambition coming from this team aims so much higher than that. This is not just a YA book, nor is it just a weird side project. This is a modern DC classic in the making. Whether you’re a newcomer to comics, or if you’ve been reading since the original Dial H, every DC fan should give this a read. It’s got great characters you can’t help but love, yet it’s so grand and cosmic and willing to jump right into the deepest depths of the DC Universe. Reader, if you too long to see the great cosmic source of all heroism, there’s only one thing left to do: Lift your hand, and Dial H for Hero! (10/10)

Ewing, García, and O’Halloran have created a living, breathing universe all their own, literally untouched by any creator before. Each page turn builds suspense, each moment builds atmosphere. By the end of the issue, you’ll be sure of two things. 1. Duggan, Lolli, Blee, Petit and Muller, brings a new dawn to the universe of X-Men in every sense of the word, and 2. This book belongs to Kate Pryde through and through. For the specifics of what happens, you’ll have to read the book to find out! (9.5/10)

All in all, this was my favorite installment yet of this storyline. Thanks to Cecil Castellucci’s careful plotting, Batgirl has more to lose than ever before, a threat which ties in nicely to both Year of the Villain and the plot threads that have been building since the beginning of Mairghread Scott’s run. (9.5/10)

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book but came away from it grateful that Leah Williams and Carlos Gomez infused it with so much life and purpose. The Amazing Mary Jane has a strong identity and a crackerjack wit. It’s a strong first issue on its own merits. (9.5/10)
