The Young Bucks, one of All Elite Wrestling’s premier tag teams and Executive Vice Presidents of the company, recently did an interview with The Herald Bulletin where they talked about, among other things, building AEW’s tag team division. Of particular note was their decision to sign Private Party, a relatively unknown tag team before AEW who is now one of the company’s hottest acts. Matt Jackson said the decision came incredibly quickly — within one minute.
“I watched a 60-second YouTube clip and I said, ‘Yep, we’re signing them,'” Matt said. “It’s fun to see that the television product is working because nobody knew these guys a couple months ago. And now Private Party, a graphic of them can appear on the big screen, and the entire arena goes nuts. So it’s proof in the pudding, it’s proof it’s working and we just have to keep going.”
The entire interview is worth a read, as it goes into AEW’s recruitment strategy, but it’s especially interesting that the Bucks had their eye on Private Party so quickly. Private Party has quickly risen to the status of one of AEW’s most popular tag teams, upsetting the Young Bucks early in the tag team title tournament, and even being added to the Tag Team Championship match earlier this month at Full Gear despite not being the #1 contenders. By all accounts, the future is bright for Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen.
AEW Dynamite airs live every Wednesday at 8pm ET on TNT.
