Marauders #3 heats up the Sebastian Shaw angle as he gets top billing this issue. The focus isn’t just on him, although it’s quite clear his power plays are the main focus of the narrative.

In this issue we learn early on his son Shinobi Shaw was reincarnated thanks to Xavier, Goldballs, Proteus, Elixir, Tempus, and Hope. Last we saw Shinobi, he killed himself by sticking his own hand into his head and phasing it back in Uncanny X-Men #20.
It’s somewhat unclear what the backstory is with mutants these days thanks to the reincarnation tool allowing creators to bring characters back at different times of their tenure (just look at Vulcan). It is all but confirmed Shinobi’s death was the one Matthew Rosenberg gave him in Uncanny X-Men #20 near the end of this issue.
I have to say the placement of the fingers is spot on, drawn by Michele Bandini.
More importantly, it reveals Sebastian knows how Shinobi killed himself seeing as he is standing there in the morgue looking at his poor son. Knowing full well Shinobi took his own life, Shaw says this…
If it’s a war you want, well it’s a war you’ll get! Shaw is clearly gaining his son’s trust to go after Emma and Kate Pryde.
That’s only part of the story though and I highly recommend you read it all to get the full picture.
