Frank Miller’s ‘Dark Knight, Returns: The Golden Child’ gets political with new Joker promo image

Frank Miller returns to the Dark Knight Universe!

Out this week in comic shops is Frank Miller’s newest Dark Knight Returns sequel, as he teams up with Rafael Grampá on Dark Knight, Returns: The Golden Child #1. This new series takes place three years after Dark Knight III: The Master Race as it focuses on reoccurring characters like Carrie Kelley and the “golden child” aka Jonathan Kent. Sure to be a hit with fans of Batman and Frank Miller this is also Grampá’s first comic book work in six years.

One might infer from the promo art that this is a highly political series given the posters behind this Joker looking character look a lot like President Donald Trump. Take a look below.

Earlier today the DC Nation Twitter tweeted out an image that looks like Joker is putting on some lipstick for his perfect unveiling this Wednesday.

Dark Knight, Returns: The Golden Child #1 comes out in comic shops this Wednesday December 11, 2019. You can read the full solicitation below for the first issue.

Frank Miller returns to the Dark Knight Universe!

It’s been three years since the events of Dark Knight III: The Master Race. Lara has spent the time learning to be more human, and Carrie Kelley has been growing into her new role as Batwoman. But a terrifying evil has returned to Gotham City, and Lara and Carrie must team up to stop this growing threat-and they have a secret weapon. Young Jonathan Kent, “the golden child,” has a power inside of him unlike anything the world has ever seen, and it’s about to be unleashed…

Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child is Frank Miller’s triumphant return to the world of the Dark Knight and joining him is the superstar artist Rafael Grampá, the mastermind behind the groundbreaking Mesmo Delivery. Following work in advertising and film, this incredible collaboration marks Grampá’s first comics work in six years, bringing his extraordinary detail and storytelling to the Dark Knight saga, resulting in a Dark Knight story like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
