WWE Hall of Famer and former WWF Tag Team Champion Rocky Johnson has passed away. The “Soul Man” was 75. At this time there’s no reports regarding the cause of his passing and there’s been no recent news that Johnson had been ill.
The sad news comes to us Wednesday evening from the Cauliflower Alley Club.

Rocky Johnson is the father of former WWE Superstar and Hollywood mega-star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Soul Man competed in the National Wrestling Alliance from 1964 to 1982 until signing with the WWF where he competed for three years, during which time he and his partner Tony Atlas became the first ever African American WWF Tag Team Champions when the “Soul Patrol” defeated The Wild Samoans. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame along with his father-in-law “High Chief” Peter Maivia in 2008.
Johnson helped trained his son The Rock, who as we know went on to become one of the biggest stars wrestling has ever seen. He also helped train a new generation of wrestlers in WWE’s OVW developmental territory.
Everyone at AIPT would like to offer their condolences to The Rock and the rest of Rocky Johnson’s family during this sad time.
