In Wednesday’s episode of WWE’s The Bump a new upcoming full-length documentary was annouced, WWE: The Story of FCW. The story of the promotion that would later become NXT will premiere on the WWE Network following the upcoming Elimination Chamber PPV on March 8. The brand new Network special will cover the history of WWE’s former developmental territory, Florida Champion Wrestling, better known as FCW.
The documentary will feature interviews with FCW alumni and coaches, as well as never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage of NXT’s precursor promotion that began during the Ruthless Aggression period of WWE and concluded in the PG era.
FCW was a wrestling promotion that functioned as a developmental territory for WWE. The promotion got its start in October 2007 and ran until August 2012 as a weekly TV series on The Brighthouse Network. A number of notable WWE Superstars such as AJ Lee, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Rusev, and The Bella Twins got their start with the company in FCW. The promotion was rebranded to NXT in August 2012.
